The beautiful Avila mountain of Caracas is called the ‘pulmon’ of the city, and it is an apt description as it gives air and breathes life into the city. This gorgeous mountain is the backdrop to the frenetic city of Caracas and is a balance that is very necessary there right now! I used to climb up it to Humboldt Hotel every weekend with my boyfriend and appreciate the fresh air and awesome views. There are some great photography opportunities there and of course I felt inspired to do some paintings. I decided to paint Avila looking at it from behind the Helicoide, from one of the barrios which is called San Agustin. This is the painting, which is called Helicoide.
